The Four Walls

As I spend more time somewhere, I feel more emotional connections emerge with the space and tangible objects around me. The silent room communicates in a mysterious way in which the objects in it provide different memories to record. The objects create and try to remember events that it has experienced. Their location, their state and the environment they occupy create a different story each time.

I have recorded my process assisted by the use of a charcoal medium. The feeling of softness, indulgence, and the power of depth puts my mind at ease. This is my attempt to comprehend the charcoal medium as an intermediary for interpreting the emotional contents of the subject being drawn, which elevates it from merely a visual object being gazed upon to an artefact with emotional aspects.
