Indra Jatra is one of the most celebrated festivals in the Kathmandu valley, with hundreds of people taking part every year. Multiple dances, exhibitions and processions take place during the Jatra.
Born and raised in Kathmandu and still living close to the heart of the event, I have always yearned for the day when I could fully experience and understand the activities of the festival from the beginning to the end. People of all ages and communities come together to make it the thrilling and engaging festival that it is. Although Indra Jatra may be a thrilling experience for most people, they tend to celebrate its many events without intimate knowledge of them, and without interest in why they are celebrated. They lose themselves among all the events, scrambling to try to understand them.
Bso Creative’s ‘Exploring Indra Jatra’ aims to provide a lighthearted story that revolves around some of the major events that take place during the festival. It creates a fun-filled learning experience of the Indra Jatra story, where the readers join in on an illustrated journey about the festival through the adventures of Babu and his conversations with his grandpa, Bajya
