My work is an act of repetition where my body and mind question how space can be healing as it evolves. My process expresses my experiences and thoughts that are spontaneous yet meditative.
I am inspired by the daily worshipping of the mandala in front of my house. This provides an opportunity to witness symbolic and simple daily rituals that connect to the whole of human life. Looking at the ground being worshipped illuminates the importance of space in our lives – in the physical and the mental realms.
My artwork explores how our inner world and outer world are connected and how they connect with the philosophies and ritual practices of our ancestors. It asks how spirituality, the energy of common spaces, and religion form a coherent, scientific world. How do we make sense of our being and knowledge in relation with the philosophies in our culture to heal our inner and outer worlds? What is the role in that process of the common spaces we share today?
