Misinformation or false information about historic artifacts are passed on frequently. This problem affects both the locals as well as the visiting foreigners.
After living as a priest at the Hiranya Varna Mahavihar in Patan for a month, I observed and realized how people pass misinterpreted information on the grounds of hearsay. During my stay, I heard multiple versions of the same story about the Mahavihar. Something had to be done about the misinterpreted information being passed on about national history and artifacts.
This project, which mediates between scholars and learners, is designed to minimize the problem of misinterpretation and provide factual information on various landmarks of the Kathmandu Valley through a digital platform. Local communities and tourist guides participated in a process designed to establish accurate information on historical monuments and cultural spaces for the app.
