As children, we always felt a great sense of fun in expressing ourselves with drawings. We scribbled with crayons any way we liked and were never scared to play around with colors. As we grew older, we started worrying about the art not being perfect – conscious that the lines weren’t smooth enough, or that the colors weren’t staying within them. Gradually, many of us started doubting ourselves – perhaps we are not creative enough, maybe art is not for us. But do we have to worry about perfection? Can’t we simply make art for happiness? With this project, I wanted to tap into the comforting and expressive process of making art. This journal is a journey of staying close to art. With some basic prompts and guidelines, the journal encourages people to peek into their thoughts so that they can express themselves better. The journal is intended to represent the user’s own unique story in visual form. With this journal, I hope people cherish their memories, and allow their inner child, who has always been creative in their own quirky ways, to flourish.
