Narrative video games drive the story through the eyes of the player and make the player feel a part of the world itself. That immersive nature is why I have a deep love for video games. I love to connect to a story, the characters in it, and the challenges the games pose – they become a means of escape for me. I also love mythical stories and their tales of adventure. They have been an integral part of my upbringing and I believe they can teach us a lot about our culture. I think myths can provide great stories for video games, and similarly, video games can be an excellent medium to learn about our culture. Utilizing video games to connect different features of the myths to various aspects of our culture can be a wonderful way to learn more about our culture and its myths. In this 2D platform game, I have explored the myth of the demon Ghantakarna, various events and actions connected to the myth, as well as other mythical beings that are part of the Newari culture. In the world of the game, the Kathmandu valley has been destroyed and corrupted by the demon Ghantakarna and the people live in fear. The video game player, in the avatar of Maya, who has been granted a special boon by a white khya, explores the dangerous lures, finds weapons, battles demons, learns about Ghantakarna and attempts to defeat him
