Gencha

Though we may think that only women wear jewelry, there have been times in history when men have decorated themselves with gold and jewels as much as, or even more than women. Conventional attitudes about masculinity were not always the norm. In more recent times the codes governing masculinity have been loosening up, and the traditional lines between masculine and feminine fashion are blurring. Although jewelry has been conventionally a female domain, we’re now seeing men experimenting with it more than ever before. However, given that people in Nepalese society are still attached to masculine stereotypes, this evolution has been far from smooth, and there remain very few stores and options for jewelry in Nepal. ‘Gencha’ inspired by Tibetan culture provides the ultimate destination and opportunity for men to explore and express their individuality, breaking the norms and standards of an ideal male set by the society.
